Dr. Kyle Hammonds has been appointed as Program Head for the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS) at the University of Texas - Dallas. He will start this new position in the Fall 2025 semester. Broadly speaking, Dr. Hammonds' role will involve teaching the Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies graduate course, acting as advisor for Master's students in the program (including chairing theses and projects), and facilitating the program admissions committee. Additionally, he will be overseeing a series of updates to the MAIS that are designed to make the program more accessible and serve a wider array of students.
MAIS is geared toward integrative learning and helping graduate students craft their own degrees by synthesizing classes from across different areas of the University curriculum. Students can build their own concentrations, or choose from a list of pre-set tracks (such as American Studies, Media Management, or Arts Curation). You can learn more about MAIS on the official UTD page HERE.
